Associate Research Scientist
RadiaSoft LLC invites applications for the position of Associate Research Scientist in our Boulder, Colorado office. RadiaSoft scientists use and develop Python, C/C++ and Fortran codes to simulate physical processes, including: beam dynamics in particle accelerators, electron cooling, X-ray optics, synchrotron radiation, electromagnetic modes in complicated structures, both laser-plasma and beam-plasma interactions, hydrodynamics and plasma fluids, beam interactions with matter and the resulting activation, and radiation shielding design. RadiaSoft scientists are working with the codes SRW and SHADOW to model synchrotron radiation and wavefront propagation in the X-ray regime. We are using the particle accelerator codes Synergia, Warp, PICSAR, Elegant, MAD-X, PTC, Opal, GENESIS and others. We use the code MARS for beam loss, structure activation and radiation shielding calculations. We also develop and implement new algorithms. The position requires presentation of work at conferences, publication in refereed journals and assistance in writing proposals for future funding.
Desired skills and experience:
The successful applicant will have a PhD in physics or a closely related field, strong programming skills, and experience in modeling electromagnetic fields or charged particle dynamics. Other desirable skills and experience include: parallel computing and software development, particle accelerator design, free electron laser simulation, EUV or X-ray optics modeling and design, experience with COMSOL Multiphysics.
